A Tradition of Quality with Amthor International & Hannay Reels

Amthor International, a fourth-generation, family-owned OEM tanker truck manufacturer, builds tanker trucks for clients across the globe. They serve multiple industries, including refined fuel, propane, water, DEF, and waste oil.

Putting customers in control.

In addition to a location in Gardiner, New York, Amthor opened a second location in Gretna, Virginia, in 1992—specifically, for tanker truck and fire apparatus equipment. The unique benefit to working with Amthor International is that customers have complete control of their product. Customizable trucks make it easier for operators in the field to accomplish tasks efficiently. Amthor International also provides training on new trucks to maximize the customer’s investment.

Quality trucks need quality reels.

No matter how the truck is customized, there is one staple to an Amthor International tanker truck—Hannay reels. For more than sixty years, Hannay hose reels have been installed or mounted on Amthor trucks for pressure washing, pumping waste, DEF fluid, and for fuel delivery. Brian Amthor, executive vice president of Amthor International, says, “We only use Hannay because of the quality of product and ease of installation.”

The most common reel installed on Amthor International trucks is the Hannay IV Series Power Rewind Reel for inverted installation. While Hannay is the only brand choice, Amthor International customers can select reel specifications that fit their industry or application. They can choose installation of dual-side or single-side service on their trucks, single-wrap or multi-wrap hoses, and electrical/automatic rewind or spring-powered hose reels.

A hands-on approach to collaboration.

In one instance, an Amthor International customer asked to have the reel motor moved from the back of the reel to the front of the reel to create more space. To execute the design change, Hannay joined the conversation with the customer and Amthor International’s team. This unique relationship made it easier for the customer to get exactly what they wanted with a faster turnaround.
