Customer Challenge: Finding high-performing equipment that can stand up to rough, day-to-day handling
Hannay Solution: GH1100 Series reel
“It’s no accident that a company rooted in the Capital Region creates a product we can rely on and that they so obviously take pride in.”—Matt Schueler, Capital Roots
Capital Roots is a volunteer-based, grassroots organization that delivers food to more than 100 pantries, schools, and stores in their community of Troy, New York. With 55 gardens and mostly youth volunteers, they needed reliable equipment built for daily, rough-and-tumble use. Because they take pride in their Capital Region community, they looked immediately to their neighbor Hannay Reels to help their gardens grow.
The Produce Project, one of Capital Roots’ urban farms, relies on the GH1100 Series reel to water their vegetables seamlessly. Matt Schueler, the Urban Grow Center Planner at Capital Roots, is impressed with how well the reel stands up to the daily wear and tear of farm life. “We rely on youth trainees for most of our labor, so tools get rough treatment,” he says. “But, we’ve been using that reel almost daily for 13 years, and it’s still operating like new! We’re deeply appreciative of the role Hannay Reels plays in our local economy and their history of supporting numerous causes around the region.”
